Open House Milano 2019: 100+ sites open for free guided tours during Milano Arch Week
The fourth edition of Open House Milano takes place on May 25-26, 2019, opening over 100 sites across Milan for free guided tours. The event, part of the global Open House network founded in London in 1992, collaborates for the first time with Milano Arch Week. This year's focus is on ongoing and recent urban transformations shaping the city, with a thematic thread of water as a landscape-shaping element. The program includes itineraries selected by the Foundation of the Order of Architects of Milan, highlighting projects by architects under 40 and those emphasizing environmental or social sustainability, as well as peripheral regeneration. Featured sites include the M4 Linate metro station (opening January 2021), the multifunctional center RI.ABI.LA. (inaugurated May 21, 2019, by studio RKTTS), a private apartment in a 19th-century ringhiera house redesigned by architect Maria Pilo di Boyl, the studio-home of designer Antonio Aricò, and historic palazzi such as Palazzo Castiglioni (1900-1903, architect Giuseppe Sommaruga). The event aims to promote an open and inclusive city, fostering dialogue between public and private sectors and citizens.
