Open Calls for Artist Residencies Across Brazil and Spain in Early 2022

A series of open calls and public notices for artist residencies and exhibition programs launched across Brazil and Spain in early 2022. In São Paulo, the Centro Cultural São Paulo opened its 32nd Exhibition Program, selecting 20 Brazilian or foreign artists resident in Brazil for shows on its Caio Graco floor, with applications accepted online until March 18. In Málaga, Spain, La Térmica, in partnership with BIENALSUR, launched the eighth edition of its Creadores residency, offering six emerging artists worldwide a two-month stay from May 1 to June 30, including a €1,000 grant, with a February 18 deadline. Belo Horizonte's Museu de Arte da Pampulha expanded its Bolsa Pampulha residency to 16 participants, now including design, architecture, and art-education, exclusively for residents of the metropolitan area until February 23. Rio de Janeiro's Instituto Inclusartiz opened its 2022 residency program until February 13, for the first time accepting proposals from across Brazil and the African continent, selecting eight artists and curators/researchers for a four-week program at its newly renovated 1906 mansion in Gamboa. In Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, the Instituto de Arte Contemporânea offered two residency programs from March 21 to April 28 on 'Extinction' and May 9 to June 21 on 'Craft,' each for six artists with a R$3,000 grant, accepting applications from February 7 to 28.
