OMM in Eskişehir launches open call for artist residencies
The Odunpazari Modern Museum (OMM) in Eskişehir, Turkey, has announced an open call for its first artist residency program, the OMM Residency. Founded by collector Erol Tabanca and designed by Kengo Kuma and Associates, the museum opened in September 2019 and houses a permanent collection of over 1,000 works from the 1950s to today, with a focus on Turkish artists. The residency offers a fully funded two-and-a-half-month stay in spring 2020, with three artists per session. Participants will stay at the OMM INN, a boutique hotel adjacent to the museum partially built within an Ottoman-era house. The program includes dialogues, workshops, and seminars exploring local techniques in Eskişehir, known as the cultural capital of Anatolia. At the end of the residency, selected artists will exhibit their work in a group show at the museum. Priority is given to graduates with at least three years of experience. Applications are due by January 30, 2020. Idil Tabanca, president and creative director of OMM, stated the program aims to foster an exciting, creative, and open approach, bringing together artists from diverse cities and cultures to create a bridge for cultural exchange between Eskişehir and the world.
