Omar Kholeif to Curate Armory Focus 2015 on MENAM Region

Omar Kholeif, curator at London's Whitechapel Gallery, has been appointed to curate the Armory Focus Initiative at The Armory Show 2015 in New York. The 2015 edition's curated section will spotlight the Middle East, North Africa, and the Mediterranean region (MENAM), featuring solo and group presentations, site-specific projects, and a symposium. This initiative is presented in collaboration with the non-profit arts and education enterprise Edge of Arabia. Kholeif also serves as Senior Visiting Curator at Cornerhouse and HOME in Manchester and as Senior Editor of Ibraaz Publishing. His previous roles include leading Art and Technology at SPACE in London, where he directed The White Building, and serving as Curator at FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) in Liverpool. The Armory Show 2015 is scheduled to run from March 5 to March 8 at Piers 92 & 94 on Twelfth Avenue at 55th Street in New York. Past Armory Focus sections have highlighted various regions: China in 2014 curated by Philip Tinari, the USA in 2013 curated by Eric Shiner, Nordic Countries in 2012 curated by Jacob Fabricius, Latin America in 2011, and Berlin in 2010.
