Omaggio a Gae Aulenti at Pinacoteca Agnelli, Turin

The Pinacoteca Agnelli in Turin hosts 'Omaggio a Gae Aulenti', a tribute exhibition curated by Nina Artioli, the architect's granddaughter, running until August 28, 2016. The show draws from Aulenti's personal archive, recently reorganized and inventoried between 2013 and 2014, now accessible at her Brera home in Milan. It presents a selection of her most famous projects alongside personal mementos, including works donated by Christo, and video interviews. The exhibition aims to reveal the person behind the professional, avoiding curatorial text in favor of objects, drawings, and photographs. Aulenti (1927–2012) opened her own studio in 1970 after a decade working at Casabella Continuità and teaching at Politecnico di Milano under Ernesto Rogers. Key commissions from Olivetti and FIAT, especially her relationship with Gianni Agnelli, propelled her career. She designed showrooms, exhibitions, and private homes for the Agnelli family in Milan, Paris, St. Moritz, and Marrakech. The exhibition is a precursor to a future retrospective, keeping alive the memory of a pioneering female architect who achieved international recognition before the era of starchitects.
