Oliviero Toscani's Razza Umana installed permanently at Pescara hospital

Oliviero Toscani's photographic series Razza Umana has been permanently installed at the Ospedale Civile di Pescara, transforming the hospital's entrance hall into a space for art and reflection. The installation, curated by Mariantonietta Firmani, features large-scale portraits on walls and mirrored surfaces that multiply views and create a disorienting effect. The project aims to provide comfort to patients, families, and staff, and to foster a positive mindset for healing. It follows previous installations in Piazza della Rinascita, Università G. D'Annunzio, and Aeroporto d'Abruzzo. The initiative was supported by the hospital's director general D'Amario and the AUSL of Pescara, with backing from entrepreneur Marramiero. Toscani's work, known for addressing social taboos through his collaboration with Benetton, focuses on human imperfection and the human condition. The installation is intended to be a permanent fixture, encouraging a dialogue between healthcare and culture.
