Oliviero Falconi: A Bank Manager's Art Collection Journey
In 1965, Oliviero Falconi was born in Villongo and later became a bank manager. He co-founded the Seven Gravity Collection and Collection of Collections ETS. Since 2017, he has served on the board of Club GAMeC Bergamo. Together with his wife Simona Leidi, Falconi began his collection in 2000, which has transitioned from vintage Italian photography to a wide range of artworks. He emphasizes instinctive acquisitions, maintaining around one hundred pieces and a flexible annual budget. His inaugural purchase was a work by Simon Dybbroe Møller, and he holds a piece by Rirkrit Tiravanija in high regard. Falconi is also interested in emerging artists like Irene Fenara, Alessandro Di Pietro, and Matthew Attard. He acknowledges market challenges, such as the need to attract new collectors, despite a 60% rise in transaction volume in 2017.
