Olivier Mosset's Writings and Interviews Compiled in New Mamco Publication

publication · 2026-04-23

Éditions du Mamco has released "Deux ou trois choses que je sais d'elle…", a collection of writings and interviews by Olivier Mosset spanning 1966 to 2003. Edited by Lionel Bovier and Stéphanie Jeanjean, the volume updates and expands the artist's earlier 1968–1987 writings, now out of print. The title references Jean-Luc Godard, situating Mosset within a tradition of aesthetic subversion. The book traces Mosset's consistent exploration of painting's specificity, from black circles on white grounds to monochromes and shaped canvases, always experimenting with color and format. It includes manifestos from the BMPT group and analyses of the New York art scene in the 1980s–90s, contextualizing his practice in relation to radical painting, Neo-Geo, and appropriation. The writings are noted for their coherence with Mosset's artistic praxis, characterized by precision and radicality rather than grand declarations.
