Olivier Mosset and Roberto Coda Zabetta create public installations for Art Mapping Piemonte 2020

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The second edition of Art Mapping Piemonte, a project mapping public artworks across the Piedmont region for tourism, proceeds despite the cancellation of Artissima and other Turin art week events due to the health emergency. Curated by Ilaria Bonacossa, director of Artissima, and supported by Regione Piemonte, Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, and Fondazione Torino Musei, the project commissions site-specific installations from leading contemporary artists. This year, Olivier Mosset (born 1944 in Bern, Switzerland) and Roberto Coda Zabetta (born 1975 in Biella) were selected. Mosset intervened on the Torre dell'acqua di Novello, a reinforced concrete water tower in the UNESCO-protected Barolo hills, painting its grilles, iron gate, and roof gold to elevate the structure as land art. Coda Zabetta worked at Wine Experience, an interactive wine culture space by Mondodelvino in Priocca, reworking his large-scale canvas Cantiere 1 into a fifty-meter-long installation of thousands of vertical wooden slats with colored strips fixed only at the top, titled CNTR (2020). The works are accessible from November 1, 2020. The project guide, curated by Vittoria Martini, is produced with Artribune and includes gastronomic tips from Gambero Rosso. Vittoria Poggio, Regional Councillor for Culture, Tourism, and Commerce, highlighted the initiative's role in enhancing Piedmont's cultural and tourism offerings.
