Olivetti Communication History Show Opens in Lombard Villa for Milan Design Week 2024

A major exhibition titled 'Olivetti. Storie da una collezione' opens at Palazzo Arese Borromeo in Cesano Maderno, Lombardy, ahead of Milan Design Week 2024. The show presents 500 objects of communication, graphic design, and advertising from the Olivetti company, drawn from archives and private collections. Highlights include the 1933 book '25 anni di Olivetti' with a cover by Bruno Munari, the brochure 'Storia della scrittura' by poet Leonardo Sinisgalli, and the Valentine typewriter designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1968 with instructions on illustrated cards. The exhibition also features photographs by Ugo Mulas, Aldo Ballo, and others, as well as Umberto Eco's 1962 text on kinetic art. The display is curated by M•IA Studio and accompanies a book published in January 2024 by Ronzani Editore, edited by the late architecture historian Sergio Polano and antiquarian Alessandro Santero, with artistic direction by Giorgio Cedolin. The exhibition is the first stop of a traveling project aimed at showcasing Olivetti's innovative communication legacy.
