Old newsstand in San Severo becomes world's smallest theater
In San Severo, Foggia province, a former newsstand has been transformed into the world's smallest theater by the theater company Foyer 97. The kiosk, which once sold newspapers and magazines, now hosts performances with six seats and ten-minute shows, free of charge. Since March 27, International Theatre Day, hundreds of people have lined up to attend. The project responds to Italy's rapid disappearance of newsstands: from 36,000 to about 10,000 in 25 years. Foyer 97 repurposed one of these declining spaces into a cultural venue.
