Olbricht Collection Opens ME Collectors Room in Berlin
On August 1, 2023, the ME Collectors Room was inaugurated on Auguststrasse in Berlin, established by Dr. Thomas Olbricht (born 1948), a chemist and heir to the Wella brand. This collection highlights post-war German art alongside pieces from the 16th century to modern works by artists such as Cindy Sherman, Gerhard Richter, and Eric Fischl. Spanning 1,300 square meters, the museum, designed by Düttmann + Kleymann, features a café-bar and a shop. The opening exhibition, "Passion Fruits Picked From the Olbricht Collection," curated by Wolfgang Schoppmann, includes notable pieces like Andy Warhol's Jackie and Kehinde Wiley's Equestrian Portrait of King Philip II. Olbricht remarked, "It's about art, just art and nothing but art."
