Olbia Film Network 2020 goes hybrid with online platform

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

The Olbia Film Network's fourth edition, which centers on short films and debuts, is taking place in Olbia, Sardinia, until September 20. Established in 2017, this festival champions contemporary cinema and includes the Figari Film Fest, now in its tenth year. Notable attendees are Giorgio Tirabassi, Carlo Sironi, and Michela Giraud. Artistic director Matteo Pianezzi mentions that the 2020 edition features a hybrid format due to COVID-19, offering both in-person and online events. The festival encourages networking, highlighted by a beach event called 'tutti al mare.' This year, there has been a rise in debut projects looking for producers, driven by writing during lockdown. Pianezzi also points out the remote collaboration possibilities from the virtual Cannes market. Additionally, Olbia Film Network provides educational programs and has initiated the Metaponto Film Network in collaboration with Mediterranea Cinematografica and Doc.It.
