Olafur Eliasson's Vertical Panorama Pavilion at Donum Estate

The Vertical Panorama Pavilion, crafted by Olafur Eliasson and Sebastian Behmann through their studio Other Spaces, is located at The Donum Estate in Sonoma County, California. This conical structure features 832 glass panels in 24 different colors, both translucent and transparent, and is designed for wine tastings and hospitality events, offering a 360-degree sensory experience. Its colored canopy integrates elements from the environment—soil, vegetation, wind, sun, atmosphere, and rain—mirroring the wine's distinctive character. Since 2011, The Donum Estate has been home to the Donum Collection, one of the largest public displays of monumental sculptures, showcasing over 50 pieces by renowned artists like Ai Weiwei and Louise Bourgeois. Owners Mei and Allan Warburg believe the pavilion beautifully combines their interests in wine, nature, art, design, and architecture, enriching the experience for visitors. The pavilion was finished in 2022.
