Olafur Eliasson's largest Italian exhibition opens at Palazzo Strozzi

Olafur Eliasson's 'Nel tuo tempo' (In Your Time) opens at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence from September 22, 2022 to January 22, 2023, marking the largest exhibition dedicated to the Icelandic-Danish artist in Italy. The show features around twenty works—including new, historical, monumental, and site-specific pieces—both with and without VR technology. The exhibition transforms the Renaissance palace from a silent container into a co-producer of art, revealing its qualities through water, light, darkness, color, shadows, and mirrors. In the courtyard, the monumental installation 'Under the weather' (11 meters elliptical, suspended at 8 meters) uses moiré effect to create an almost hypnotic presence. On the Piano Nobile, windows are treated as lenses, revealing minimal details like glass imperfections and lead bindings under dim light. Key works include 'How do we live together?', 'Beauty', and 'Room for one colour' (monofrequency yellow light). In the Strozzina basement, the VR installation 'Your view matter' explores Platonic solids and spheres across six virtual spaces. The series 'City Plan' (seven mirrored panels) reflects visitors' faces with front pages of local and national newspapers. The exhibition builds on previous interventions at Palazzo Strozzi by artists like Ai Weiwei and JR.
