Olafur Eliasson Named UN Goodwill Ambassador, Städelschule Seeks New Rector, Kathmandu Triennale Announces Curators

Olafur Eliasson has been appointed UN Goodwill Ambassador for climate action by the United Nations Development Programme. The Danish/Icelandic artist will advocate for sustainable development with emphasis on renewable energy. Städelschule in Frankfurt is searching for a new rector following Philippe Pirotte's resignation last week. Applications are open for the position starting 1 April 2020, with the school seeking a confident professional with long-term vision for both Städelschule and Portikus. The Kathmandu Triennale has selected Nepalese artists Hit Man Gurung and Sheelasha Rajbhandari as co-curators for its December 2020 edition. Under director Sharareh Bajracharya and artistic director Cosmin Costinas, the festival has focused on climate change and feminism since 2009. Maurizio Cattelan's solid gold toilet America (2017) remains missing after being stolen from his retrospective at Blenheim Palace. Police continue investigating the theft from the English country house where Winston Churchill was born.
