Olafur Eliasson curates WePresent platform for WeTransfer

digital · 2026-04-26

Olafur Eliasson has been appointed as the 2024 curator of WePresent, the editorial and creative arm of WeTransfer. Founded in 2018, WePresent annually invites international artists to share stories and works addressing contemporary societal issues. Eliasson, known for his focus on ecology, architecture, and sensory perception, will curate the platform to raise awareness on urgent socio-environmental topics. He selected three artists: Sarah Masete, art director of EOTO (Each On Teach One) and founding member of Kilowatt, a Black queer cultural collective in Berlin; Hadeer Omar, an Egyptian-origin new media artist whose multimedia installations explore personal-to-universal narratives; and writer Neema Githere, who examines love in an age of algorithmic debris, digital space, social media psychology, and Afrodiasporic cultures. The curated content will address climate change, racial injustice, economic instability, and the digital divide. Eliasson expressed gratitude to WeTransfer for the invitation, describing WePresent as a vibrant, boundless space especially valuable in 2024, and hopes to amplify voices tackling urgent issues.
