Okwui Enwezor Appointed Curator of 2015 Venice Biennale
Okwui Enwezor will serve as curator for the 56th Venice Biennale, scheduled from 9 May to 22 November 2015. The Nigerian-born curator, critic, and writer currently directs Munich's Haus der Kunst. His extensive curatorial background includes leading Documenta 11 in 2002 and the 2nd Johannesburg Biennale in 1998. Enwezor also founded NKA: Journal of Contemporary African Art in 1994, published by Duke University Press. Additional major exhibitions under his direction include the 2007 Bienal Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo de Sevilla, the 2008 Gwangju Biennale, and the 2012 Triennal d'Art Contemporain of Paris. The appointment was announced by the Board of Directors of la Biennale di Venezia.
