Okura's manga 'My son is probably gay' coming to Italy on April 7

Japanese manga artist Okura, known for the three-volume series Sorairo Flutter, is releasing a new manga series titled 'My son is probably gay' in Italy. Originally a web comic posted on Twitter, it was later serialized in Square Enix's Gangan Pixiv magazine. The first volume will debut in Italian bookstores on April 7, 2021, published by Star Comics. The story follows teenager Hiroki, who tries to hide his homosexuality from his family. The narrative is told from the perspective of his mother Tomoko, a loving and open-minded woman who suspects her son's orientation but waits for him to come out on his own terms. Other characters include younger brother Yuuki, who appears grumpy but is deeply attached to Hiroki, and father Akiyoshi, who strives to be present in his children's lives despite living away for work. The manga blends comedic moments—often arising from Hiroki's behavior and gaffes—with tender scenes where Tomoko gently encourages her son to open up. Claudia Calzuola, curator of Star Comics' Queer line, described the work as addressing the complex parent-child relationship through comedy and sweetness, offering the unusual perspective of the mother of a (probably) gay protagonist.
