OJ Simpson Museum Pop-Up Opens in Los Angeles Chinatown

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Coagula Curatorial, a contemporary art gallery in Los Angeles's Chinatown, is launching a five-day pop-up museum dedicated to OJ Simpson from August 18 to 22. The exhibition revisits the 1995 murder trial, recently dramatized in FX's 'American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.' Curated by Adam Papagan, creator of the OJ Tour, the museum features T-shirts worn by Simpson during the trial, artworks inspired by 'The Juice,' and a white Ford Bronco purchased via crowdfunding, parked outside the venue. Videos, memorabilia, and other items are also on display. Gallerist Mat Gleason, who called the trial 'a real drug for me,' said hosting the show is a dream come true. An essay by Gleason in the Coagula Art Journal examines the trial's impact on artists and the art world. The trial, marked by racial tensions and Simpson's athletic charisma, was one of America's most-watched events, effectively an early reality show. Simpson was granted parole on July 20, 2017, to be released October 1, after serving 33 years for armed robbery and kidnapping in Las Vegas.
