OHT's Frankenstein: A Cyberpunk Theatre Piece Inspired by Mary Shelley

Filippo Andreatta's experimental theatre group OHT (Office for a Human Theatre) premiered 'Frankenstein' at Teatro Astra in Turin, drawing on Mary Shelley's 1816 novel. The performance, featuring actresses Stina Fors and Silvia Costa, rejects linear spacetime, starting before the audience sits. Set in an industrial-cyberpunk lab with mechanized structures, tubes, and water systems, the piece explores human creativity and disintegration, with roles blurring between the two performers. A subplot references the 1815 eruption of Mount Tambora in Indonesia, which caused the 'year without a summer,' linking to Promethean fire and contemporary environmental responsibility. The show ends in 2023 with the melting of a wax bust of Herodotus, referencing philosopher Rosi Braidotti. Technical credits include lighting by Andrea Sanson, sound design by Davide Tomat, and stage sets and wax sculptures by Plastikart, who previously collaborated with Romeo Castellucci. OHT also offers the immersive installation 'Astra Dark Interior' and a talk with meteorologist Luca Mercalli on climate change.
