Ohad Meromi's Worker! Smoker! Actor! Exhibition at Nathalie Karg Gallery Explores Labor and Revolution

exhibition · 2026-04-22

From July 10 to August 15, 2014, Nathalie Karg Gallery hosted Ohad Meromi's solo exhibition, which delved into themes of labor, revolution, and theatricality through various mediums including sculpture, installation, and video. A highlight of the exhibition was Grave Digger #23 (Primitive B, 2014), a 75-inch tall cast aluminum totem representing a squatting female figure, part of Meromi's "Grave Digger" series, influenced by Andrei Platonov's 1930 novel The Foundation Pit. Additional works included Half Modular Dome (2010), a wooden installation, and the 20-minute video Worker! Smoker! Actor! (2010-2013), showcasing a factory worker's daily life. The exhibition also featured a miniature model, House of Culture (2010), creating an atmosphere of utopian aspiration and transforming the gallery into an interactive space.
