Officine Saffi brings ceramic sculpture show to Puglia's Valle d'Itria

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Officine Saffi, a gallery established by sisters Laura and Maria Borghi in Milan, is set to broaden its reach to Puglia with a group exhibition named "Morfologia delle Meraviglie," which will debut on July 20, 2019, at Tenuta Diciassetteconi, located between Ostuni and Martina Franca. Curated by Lorenzo Madaro, the exhibition showcases the work of 11 artists from Italy and abroad, including Vincenzo D'Alba, Antonio Marras (for Kiasmo), and others, who will display ceramic sculptures—many uniquely designed for the site—amidst the estate's gardens filled with trulli, olive trees, and prickly pears. The Borghi sisters, inspired by the region's rich landscape and architecture, seek to promote contemporary ceramic art as part of local tradition. Additionally, British artist Robert Cooper will conduct a ceramic workshop at Masseria Cervarolo during two sessions in August for guests. The sisters plan for this exhibition to be the inaugural event of an annual festival celebrating contemporary ceramic sculpture in Valle d'Itria, with future events including workshops, discussions, and publications. This marks Officine Saffi's first venture into outdoor exhibitions.
