ODA completes chamfered limestone condo tower on Manhattan's Upper East Side

architecture-design · 2026-05-18

Architecture studio ODA has completed The Harper, a 21-story residential building on Manhattan's Upper East Side, clad in chamfered limestone and drawing on Art Deco and Bauhaus styles. The building contains 63 residences with two to four bedrooms, featuring sculpted facades with setbacks, a cantilevered protrusion of window boxes over a neighboring brick building, and fluted stone panels. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring in daylight and frame views. The Art Deco theme continues indoors with a stone reception desk and hardware like drawer pulls. Finishes include wide-plank white oak flooring, marble, limestone, and quartzite. Many units have private balconies or terraces; select penthouses offer rooftop terraces with jacuzzis. Two communal terraces are equipped with outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, and televisions, providing panoramic city views. Amenities include a fitness center, music studio, game lounge, pet spa, private storage, and art and playrooms for children. ODA's other New York projects include a Brooklyn residential building of irregular concrete boxes and a former sugar refinery turned office. The studio is also designing a supertall skyscraper in Manhattan with SLCE, featuring a spiraling torch crown. Photography by Miguel de Guzmán.
