October: The Great Experiment at Central Saint Martins
Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, presents October: The Great Experiment, a public talk and film screening event on 5 October 2023 from 18:00 to 22:30 at the LVMH Lecture Theatre and The Street. The event explores the legacy of the 1917 October Revolution (November 1917 Gregorian) and its impact on art's autonomy and political commitments. The programme opens with a keynote lecture by Marxist theorist Franco 'Bifo' Berardi, introduced by filmmaker Laura Mulvey, followed by a discussion with her and writer-curator David Campany. Later, leading Soviet film scholar Ian Christie introduces Sergei Eisenstein's 1928 film October: Ten Days that Shook the World.
