OCOOPA Recalls 1.5M Hand Warmers After Fires, Burns, and Death

Hey, so I just found out that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on Thursday that OCOOPA Direct is recalling about 1.5 million of their rechargeable hand warmers. The issue is with the lithium-ion batteries overheating, which could cause serious injuries or even death. They’ve had nearly 1,500 overheating reports, leading to 15 fires and 350 burn injuries, including a tragic case where an 83-year-old died in February 2026 in San Diego. The models affected are UT3053, UT3056, ZLS-118, ZLS-118S, ZLS-118D, H01, and H01(PD). These warmers were sold online from September 2018 to May 2026, priced between $15 and $60. Customers should stop using them, contact OCOOPA Direct for refunds, and dispose of them properly.
