OceanGate Offers Civilian Spots on Titanic Expedition for $125,000

OceanGate Expeditions is organizing six ten-day missions between 2021 and 2022 to study the Titanic wreck, lying at 12,467 feet (3,800 meters) deep off Newfoundland. The scientific team will create a detailed 3D model using multibeam sonar, laser scanning, and photogrammetry, and document the site with 4K video and high-definition photos. Civilians can join for $125,000, provided they have flexibility, adaptability, and physical fitness. Stockton Rush, President of OceanGate Expeditions, called the survey expedition "the culmination of our vision" to offer direct deep-ocean experiences. The wreck, discovered in the 1980s, has been the subject of numerous studies and was romanticized in the 1997 film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
