Ocean Vuong's Photography Exhibition Opens at The Wadsworth

The Wadsworth in downtown Hartford is showcasing "I'm Sorry I Love You," an exhibition featuring 44 photographs by acclaimed author, professor, and poet Ocean Vuong. Launched this summer, the display includes portraits, landscapes, and images that capture queer and immigrant experiences in the Connecticut River Valley over the past twenty years. Vuong, who was born in Vietnam and grew up in Hartford, infuses his photographic work with the same sensitivity evident in his writing. He views this series as a collective autobiography that reflects both immigrant narratives and queer life in rural, working-class settings. The exhibition prompts reflections on success beyond mere escape and explores the joys and challenges faced by those who remain.
