OCA Oasy Contemporary Art: New Art Park in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines
In the Oasi Dynamo nature reserve on the Pistoiese Apennines, a new contemporary art space called OCA Oasy Contemporary Art has opened. Housed in a former cowshed at an altitude of 1,100 meters, the gallery is directed by Emanuele Montibeller. The inaugural exhibitions are David Svensson's installation 'Home of the World'—a collage of deconstructed flags along a hillside—and Massimo Vitali's photographic show 'La Grande Oasi,' curated by Giovanna Calvenzi, which portrays seven local villages and their inhabitants. Both run until November 5, 2023. The project aims to create a permanent art park, with future installations by architects Michele De Lucchi, Stefano Boeri, Kengo Kuma, and Matteo Thun, artist Edoardo Tresoldi, and poet Mariangela Gualtieri. A three-year photography program curated by Calvenzi will feature Joan Fontcuberta and Thomas Struth. Diletta Cancellato will oversee textile installations. The reserve, established in 2006 on former hunting grounds of the Orlando family with WWF support, also hosts the Dynamo Camp therapeutic recreation nonprofit since 2007.
