OCA Contemporary Art Park Opens in Pistoiese Apennines
The Manes family has launched OCA (Oasy Contemporary Art), a new art park within the WWF-affiliated Oasi Dynamo in the Pistoiese Apennines, Italy. Emanuele Montibeller, founder of Arte Sella, has been appointed artistic director. The park is accessible only on foot via a forest walk, emphasizing environmental coherence. The inaugural phase features a photography exhibition by Massimo Vitali (born 1944, Como) and an environmental installation by David Svensson (born 1973, Skillingaryd). Vitali's exhibition, curated by Giovanna Calvenzi, includes new large-format prints on flexible supports depicting the Pistoiese mountains and its inhabitants, alongside older works. Svensson's installation comprises colorful flags that deconstruct national symbols, placed on a fence at a border meeting point, designed to interact with wind and remain lower than trees. Montibeller states that Land Art is no longer relevant and that new forms uniting man, art, and nature must be sought, addressing ecological and climatic change. Future plans involve poets, philosophers, architects, and scientists, including a project by Michele De Lucchi and Mariangela Gualtieri combining poetry and architecture that will eventually disappear, leaving only the poetic narrative.
