Oblivion Book Fair Returns to Rome with Decolonization Theme
Oblivion, Italy's only book and comic fair dedicated to the irrational, returns to Rome's Città dell'Altra Economia on February 21-22, 2026. The second edition features nearly 50 publishers and a central theme: 'decolonize territories.' The program includes panels and participatory meetings exploring new ecologies, bodies and identities that escape control, extra-European and postcolonial focuses. Artistic directors Claudio Kulesko and Paolo di Orazio emphasize a horizontal, democratic model involving publishers, readers, and operators. The theme draws on 1980s/90s cinema and literature, aiming to configure imagination as a tool for resistance against real-world issues like genocide, global conspiracies, exploitation, systemic racism, patriarchal violence, and false myths of progress. The fair builds on communities from other events like Marginalia, Fantafestival, Trieste Science+Fiction Festival, and Stranimondi, rejecting the division between high and low culture.
