OBIC ART Platform Merges Art, Design, and Cuisine

The OBIC ART platform launches in Rome, originating from the 2016 book "OBIC. L’idea o visione del cibo prendendo sul serio l’anima" by critic Gianluca Marziani and foodmaker-architect Anna Paola Lo Presti. The project aims to fuse art and food into a generative whole, not merely add them. Its first event, "Alfabeto OBIC," takes place March 21 at Teatro Casa Manfredi (Ostiense district) and runs through April 24 at MICRO Arti Visive gallery. Artists Roberto Giacomucci, Giulio Marchetti, and Mario Ricci contribute works: Marchetti remixes Boetti's chessboards into alphabet-tapestries honoring chefs Fulvio Pierangelini, Niko Romito, Peppe Guida, Antonia Klugmann, and Paolo Lopriore; Giacomucci offers hybrid still lifes; Ricci presents paintings hiding cutlery. A performance by pastry chef Giorgia Proia and chef Luciano Monosilio interprets the "OBIC code." OBIC plans future exhibitions, workshops, design objects, NFTs, and an online shop. A major exhibition is expected by 2024 at MIAC in Cinecittà. The platform also acts as a dealer and consultant, developing limited-edition artist-designed foods and innovative culinary objects.
