Oban Distillery Releases New 15-Year Port Cask Finish Whisky Following Acclaimed Sherry Cask Edition

other · 2026-04-19

Oban, a small coastal distillery in the Scottish Highlands, has launched its second installment in a 15-year cask-finished series: the Oban Aged 15 Years Port Cask Finish. This new single malt, bottled at 52.1% ABV, follows the highly praised 15-year-old Cask Strength Sherry Cask Finish released in 2025. While the port-finished expression features notes of grapes, dried fruit, dark chocolate, and espresso, it is considered slightly less outstanding than its predecessor. Jesse Damashek, senior VP of whiskey at Diageo, described the whisky as a celebration of Oban's coastal roots combined with the influence of American oak ruby port casks. The distillery, operating since the late 18th century, uses small stills and light peat in its production, with a core lineup including 14- and 18-year-old expressions. The new release is available nationally with a suggested retail price of $130.
