NYMA Water Tower Transformed into Public Landmark by Eek en Dekkers

The adaptive reuse of the NYMA Water Tower in Nijmegen, Netherlands, by architects Eek en Dekkers has turned the former industrial structure into a vibrant public destination. Originally part of the old NYMA artificial silk factory, the 800 m² tower now houses a restaurant, flexible meeting spaces, and a panoramic bar, blending hospitality, culture, and community. The project, completed in 2025, preserves the tower's historical identity while creating a hub for social interaction and creativity. Key architects Iggie Dekkers and Piet Hein Eek led the design, with photography by Jannie Guo. The contractor was Van Schijndel, with construction by Team 42 and engineering by Installatie Adviesgroep.
