NYC Design Fairs ICFF and Afternoon Light Rethink Strategy for 2027

festival-fair · 2026-06-01

New York's furniture events, ICFF and Afternoon Light, are revising their approaches to succeed in the city. Beginning in 2027, ICFF will shift its schedule from May to November, coordinating with BDNY at the Javits Center to prevent conflicts during the spring. The second edition of Afternoon Light took place at the WSA Building, featuring notable pieces such as the SOM 79 chair by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Sam Klemick's Post Collection lounge chair, and 3D-printed lights by Ammunition for Gantri. The Healthy Materials Lab highlighted eco-friendly designs, including Lola Ben-Alon's Muddy stools. Tecta made its U.S. debut with a Bauhaus retrospective, while Canadian designer Mary Ratcliffe introduced a rug collection and furniture line. Key highlights included Bernhardt Design's Crews sofa, Patricia Urquiola's pendant for Pablo, and NokNok's award-winning Till lounge chair.
