Nuvola Camera's Solo Exhibition From the Passenger's Seat at Spazio MenoUno

Nuvola Camera (born 1998 in Como) presents her solo exhibition From the Passenger's Seat at Spazio MenoUno in Treviglio, curated by Laura Santini. The show results from winning the Premio Città di Treviglio in 2023, followed by the Premio Rotary “Be the Difference With Art”. Camera studied at NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan and then at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia. She also participated in residencies with Dolomiti Contemporanee. Her paintings on canvas, board, and paper eschew easy access, demanding attention and a slower temporality. Works like Blacklit hide yellows, blues, and greens beneath black and white; Giardino Zen presents trees less concrete than their shadows; Kurokami shows bare trunks in a dance reminiscent of Japanese geishas. Camera's landscapes are unidyllic, with irony evident in her depiction of the Tomba Brion walls at 1.62 meters—Carlo Scarpa's standard female eye level—but she, being shorter, paints what she can see. Her romanticism manifests as shadows on haunted buildings and nostalgia for memories glimpsed from a car window. She claims her paintings only succeed when she starts treating them badly.
