Nuoro's Spazio Ilisso Opens with Marianne Sin-Pfältzer Exhibition

The publishing house Ilisso, dedicated since 1985 to promoting Sardinian artistic and cultural heritage, has inaugurated Spazio Ilisso in Nuoro. The new space, created by renovating the early 20th-century Casa Papandrea, will host works by 20th-century Sardinian sculptors and temporary exhibitions. The interior retains original features like high ceilings, an internal garden, and Déco flooring. The museum joins Nuoro's existing venues: MAN, the Museo delle Arti e tradizioni popolari sarde, and Tribu (currently closed for restorations). Before the permanent collection is installed, Spazio Ilisso opens with the exhibition "Paesaggi Umani" dedicated to German photographer Marianne Sin-Pfältzer. Sin-Pfältzer first visited Sardinia in the 1950s and later moved to Nuoro. Her photographs document Sardinia as well as travels to the United States, the Philippines, and India, encompassing reportage, black-and-white and color portraits, and sensitive depictions of reality, including striking animal images and harsh urban marginality. The exhibition is complemented by a documentary about the artist by Enrico Pinna and Andrea Mura. "Paesaggi Umani" runs until April 13, 2020, at Spazio Ilisso, Via Brofferio 23, Nuoro.
