Nunzio guides video tour of Palazzo Barberini for Scegli il Contemporaneo
The first episode of 'Scegli il Contemporaneo' is now online. The project, promoted by Roma Culture and winner of the 2020-2021-2022 Public Notice, is curated by the Department of Cultural Activities. It aims to bring the public closer to contemporary art through events, guided tours, and workshops involving Rome's cultural institutions and special guests. The inaugural episode features artist Nunzio (born in Cagnano Amiterno, L'Aquila, 1954) as an exceptional guide. Together with museum educators from Senza titolo, he leads a video narrative through Palazzo Barberini, home of the Gallerie Nazionali di Arte Antica, where sculpture, painting, and architecture dialogue. The clip, produced by Domenico Catano and Andrea Giannone, follows the artist—associated with the Scuola di San Lorenzo and known for exploring the expressive and formal possibilities of matter and its correlations with light and space—as he walks through the museum's rooms, sharing thoughts and reflections on works by Bernini, Borromini, Raphael, and other masterpieces from the Gallerie Nazionali Barberini Corsini that have most influenced him.
