Numero Cromatico launches 12 online exhibitions after losing Rome space

digital · 2026-04-27

Numero Cromatico, Italy's first research center dedicated to the intersection of art and neuroscience, lost its space at Pastificio Cerere in Rome due to the pandemic and economic crisis. Despite this, the group has initiated Gran Finale, a structured calendar of 12 online exhibitions on Instagram running from December 3, 2020, to January 25, 2021. The exhibitions alternate between solo shows, group shows, and performances, featuring artists Dionigi Mattia Gagliardi, Manuel Focareta, Salvatore Gaetano Chiarella, Marco Marini, and Sara Cuono. The group has secured a new headquarters at Via Tiburtina 213 in the San Lorenzo district, inside a building originally constructed by sculptor Giuseppe Sartorio as his home-studio in the early 1900s. Numero Cromatico will continue its research, editorial activities (including the journal nodes), and scientific work from the new space, focusing on artistic production and fostering perceptual and critical dialogue with viewers. The group also plans to publish a critical and programmatic text and release a new issue of nodes.
