Nucleo's 'The Law of Past Experience' at FuturDome, Milan
FuturDome, a new museum-housing project in Milan, opens its season with 'Nucleo. The Law of Past Experience,' an exhibition curated by Atto Belloli Ardessi and Ginevra Bria. The show features nearly fifty unique edition works by Turin-based studio Nucleo, directed by Piergiorgio Robino. Set in the private apartments of a restored Liberty-style building that once hosted meetings of the last generation of Futurists in the 1940s, the exhibition explores the concept of 'scarto' (discard) through perceptual and historical lenses. The title references a Gestalt principle by Max Wertheimer, where the brain reconstructs familiar forms from fragmented stimuli. Works include a large black dog with its snout trapped in a metal parallelepiped, bronze statues of eagles, swans, and monkeys with computer-driven algebraic volume alterations, old postcards covered in cardboard polygons, and a bisected antique burl cabinet. The exhibition is primarily installed in the raw basement, creating a dialogue with the rough spaces. The building underwent a twelve-year conservative restoration promoted by ISISUF (International Institute for Futurism Studies).
