Nottenera Festival Returns for 11th Edition in Serra de' Conti

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

The Nottenera festival, which celebrates community, language, and territory in total darkness for eight hours, returned for its eleventh edition on August 19-20, 2017, in the medieval village of Serra de' Conti, province of Ancona. Public lights were switched off to host site-specific installations, performances, concerts, stargazing, animation cinema, and conferences. Featured artists included Leonardo Cemak with meta-painting, Denis Riva's paintings, Mirko Basaldella's Masks, Elena Bellantoni's Parole cunzate, Brunella Tegas's Quadritos, Gio Pistone's monstrous creatures, and Marta Palmieri's ceramic installations. TheGIFER, an international GIF art project previously shown in Turin, was projected. Valerio Giacone presented a "bio-sculpture" for his second appearance. The Piccola Compagnia Dammacco performed the play Esilio. The article suggests that after eleven editions, the festival's content may need longer visibility for the public and the territory.
