Nothing New Under the Sun: Flemish Community Collection at TICK TACK

The exhibition titled 'Nothing New Under the Sun' is currently on display at TICK TACK in Antwerp, showcasing pieces from the Collection of the Flemish Community previously stored in Vilvoorde. This event, curated by seven international curators from KASK's Curatorial Studies program in partnership with the Department of Culture, Youth and Media, highlights the conflict between preservation and exhibition. Fourteen artists, including Jacques Charlier, Liliane Vertessen, Lucio Del Pezzo, Jean Loix, Miki Van der Eecken, Richard Allen, Dirk De Neef, Eric Vandepitte, and Francisco Sobrino, were chosen based on acquisition criteria rather than a unified storyline. Additionally, a newly commissioned performance by Lily White featuring dancers Charlotte Dos Santos and Mina Verheyen takes place at the depot. The exhibition also explores the conservation of Francisco Sobrino's 'Transformations Instables' (1962), a Plexiglas piece that necessitates audience engagement for full activation, prompting discussions on the preservation of both material and function.
