Nose Art Festival: Umbrian Winery Launches Olfactory Arts Event

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

The Pambuffetti family, fourth-generation owners of the Scacciadiavoli winery in Montefalco, Umbria, has announced the first edition of the Nose Art Festival, scheduled for June 21–22, 2025. Conceived by Liù Pambuffetti, the festival centers on the sense of smell as a tool for human connection, exploring its role across neuroscience, art, and gastronomy. The event will feature artists, performers, researchers, and scientists in conferences, thematic walks, tastings, and experiential workshops within the winery's spaces. A general entry ticket (€20) grants access to permanent installations, the winery, conferences, and a Saturday evening live set; workshops require an additional €10 ticket with limited capacity. Liù Pambuffetti stated that the festival is among Italy's first events fully dedicated to smell as a cultural language and knowledge instrument, born from the observation that olfaction is often secondary in art due to its subjectivity and ephemerality. The initiative aims to create new connections between wine, art, science, and landscape, opening the winery to a novel dialogue with the public.
