Northern Block Launches Next Series of Multilingual Type Systems
Northern Block, a type foundry based in the UK, has unveiled its Next Series, which features typefaces that function as dynamic systems instead of conventional static fonts. A highlight is Lintel Next, boasting 96 distinct styles. The series also introduces Loew Next, with variations for Arabic and Devanagari scripts, alongside Nuber Next and Nurom Next, the latter's Arabic version still underway. This initiative enhances language compatibility for scripts such as Arabic, Hebrew, Greek, Cyrillic, Vietnamese, and an extended Latin alphabet. Brand Lead Donna Wearmouth noted that client insights were instrumental in the design, while Lead Type Designer Tasos Varipatis hailed cultural partnerships for effective communication.
