Norovirus outbreak on Caribbean Princess cruise ship sickens over 100 guests

More than 100 people aboard the Caribbean Princess cruise ship have fallen ill from norovirus. The ship departed from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on April 28 for an 11-day voyage. The US Centers for Disease Control reported that 102 passengers and 13 crew members are sick with symptoms including diarrhea and vomiting. The vessel carries over 4,000 people and is en route to the Bahamas, expected to arrive Sunday before its final destination in Port Canaveral, Florida on Monday. Princess Cruises has increased cleaning and disinfection, collected stool samples, and consulted the CDC's Vessel Sanitation Program.
