Norman Parkinson retrospective opens in Turin

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The exhibition "Norman Parkinson. Always in Fashion" opens from March 21 to June 29, 2025 at Palazzo Falletti di Barolo in Turin. Curated by Terence Pepper of the National Portrait Gallery, London, it features 80 images spanning the British photographer's 56-year career. Parkinson began as an apprentice at Speaight and Sons Ltd in the early 1930s and revolutionized fashion photography by moving models from studios to dynamic outdoor settings like streets and beaches. A key 1939 image for Harper's Bazaar shows Pamela Minchin jumping on the Isle of Wight beach in a Fortnum & Mason swimsuit. Parkinson later collaborated with The Queen magazine, photographing models Jerry Hall and Iman, and designers Yves Saint Laurent and Hubert de Givenchy. The exhibition is produced by Ares, Terra Esplêndida, and Iconic Images.
