Norma Mangione Opens Temporary Space in Father Salvo's Former Studio in Turin
Norma Mangione, a Turin-based gallerist, has opened a temporary exhibition space in the former studio of her father, the artist Salvo, who died in September 2015. Located at Via Bonafous 2, near Piazza Vittorio, the space is hosting a solo show by Francesco Barocco titled "Le Incisioni," featuring a series of etchings with human face portraits. The exhibition runs from June 10 to 11 (open 4-7 PM), then continues by appointment until July 16. Barocco's works emerge from intense self-analysis and meticulous layering of etching techniques, exploring recurring motifs in art history. The space, an elegant apartment on the second floor of a 19th-century building, was one of Salvo's last studios. Mangione decided to renovate it for this show, which coincides with Michael Bauer's exhibition at her main gallery on Via Matteo Pescatore (until July 9). Future plans for the space may involve the Archivio Salvo on Via Bava 1, where young curators from the Campo course at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo have recently accessed for their studies.
