Norma Mangione Gallery in Turin Closes to Become Salvo Archive

After 15 years, the Norma Mangione Gallery in Turin is set to close, making way for the Archivio Salvo, which will honor the legacy of the late Italian artist Salvo (Salvatore Mangione, 1947–2015), who was also Norma Mangione's father. The gallery's concluding exhibition, titled 'Ghost Track,' will be on display until December 22, 2023, showcasing works by artists such as Ruth Proctor, Francesco Barocco, and others. Established in 2016, the archive will occupy the gallery's location on Via Matteo Pescatore following renovations. Norma Mangione highlighted the increasing interest in Salvo's art, including a record auction sale at Christie's Hong Kong, and emphasized the archive's goal of creating a comprehensive catalogue raisonné of his extensive oeuvre, potentially comprising up to 10,000 pieces. Directed by Clara Dagosta, the archive seeks to foster artistic collaboration and host exhibitions without the commercial constraints typical of galleries, while Mangione expressed her appreciation for her artists and optimism for the revitalization of Turin's art community.
