Nori Studio transforms Milan apartment into design jewel with contemporary art

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

Nori Studio, a Milan-based architecture firm founded by Jacopo Nori, specializes in integrating art and design into residential spaces. The studio recently completed the renovation of a classic ringhiera apartment in Porta Ticinese, transforming it into a design gem. The project rethought the layout of the former balcony-facing home, which originally included a living room, kitchen, bedroom, and two bathrooms. The design features linear graphics to create a clean, minimalist environment that serves as a container for the owners' private art collection. Two large black steel portals contrast with white walls, providing perfect frames for artworks. Featured artists include Gwen O'Neil (New York, 1992), Jonathan Casella (Texas), and Sam Friedman (New York, 1984). According to Sara Fantuzzi, a collaborator at Nori Studio, the home was conceived as a neutral volume centered around the artworks and harmony, with many furnishings being tailor-made. Nori Studio opened about two years ago near Parco Giovanni Paolo II and is managed by its founder with a team of young architects. The studio aims to rediscover and revitalize living spaces as extensions of the self, emphasizing design and art while rejecting homogenization and image consumption.
