Nora Burnett Abrams Appointed Director of ICA Boston, Succeeding Jill Medvedow After 26 Years

Nora Burnett Abrams will become the new director of the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, starting on 1 May 2025. She succeeds Jill Medvedow, who led the institution for 26 years. Abrams comes from the Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver, where she served as director since 2019 and held various roles since 2009. Her curatorial work at MCA Denver included retrospectives of artists Jean-Michel Basquiat and Tara Donovan. ICA Boston board cochair Bridgitt Evans praised Abrams for her ambitious vision focused on programmatic excellence and cultural relevance. The appointment marks a significant leadership transition for the Boston institution.
